Functioning as a liaison between realities, Swihart "glitches" spaces and objects into existence, transposing them into either digital or physical domains. This innovative perspective defines his distinctive creative vision and acts as a generator for architectural concepts.
Background:
Hunter Swihart is an American designer based in Miami, Fl. He is the principal of HJS.Studio and an architectural designer at Pininfarina. Swihart’s work explores the intersection of digital and physical realities, focusing on producing captivating design that seamlessly blends the realms of art, architecture, and technology. Swihart was raised in, Miami, Florida. He then went on to study architecture at Florida International University (FIU), where he received a Master of Architecture degree (2022). Here is where he began to develop the fundamental concepts and ideas present in his work today. Upon Graduation, Swihart began working for renown Italian design house ,”Pininfarina” as well as creating his own design practice ,”HJS.Studio”.
A new era is upon us. An era of limitless opportunity. The era of the Metaverse. For those who do not yet know, the Metaverse, is an idea. An idea of a decentralized virtual world, a “place” parallel to our physical world. All of the typical attractions and affairs found in our real world are being transferred into a digital world, backed by all of the largest tech companies, such as Facebook. Currently, there are a handful of popular metaverses in existence, including Decentraland, Somnium Space, and Sandbox, just to name a few. Within these digital environments are millions of active users that already spend hours exploring, socializing, and consuming using cryptocurrencies. This is the future of business and entertainment, and a massive opportunity for companies and brands to expand into a three-dimensional realm. In a branding context, imagine a three-dimensional website that allows users to walk around in an atmosphere, carefully designed to encompass a company’s aesthetic and values, meet the designers behind a brand, and shop and socialize with like-minded consumers. Here you can sell items, host get togethers, attend concerts, and anything else you can imagine. As a user, imagine a fully immersive experience where the confines our physical cease to exist. We are currently in the early days of this phenomenon… but not for long. The companies currently expanding the idea of the metaverse are working to make these lands available to consumers through virtual reality headsets, and eventually VR glasses, making a merge between physical and digital worlds feasible. At @hjs.studio we aim to get ahead of this transition. We are a multiverse design studio, focused on producing architecture that integrates both digital and physical realities. We will be sharing projects and information both in digital (metaverse) environments, as well as in physical real-world contexts in the form of NFTs, physical art, AR and VR experiences, events, exhibitions, pavilions, lectures, and courses.
